How Secure is Your Industrial Property?

Category Advice

When you've just invested millions in a new industrial warehouse, the last thing you want is a security breech calling into question the security facilities on your property, since this could cause tenants to search for rental opportunities elsewhere. Which is why quality security is a non-negotiable. To help you ensure your security is up to scratch, we've put together a list of pro security tips.

Conduct a Risk Assessment

Your number one priority should be securing your perimeter. It's worth conducting a risk assessment and scanning your perimeter for any weak spots so that you can make these especially secureIf you have a particularly large property, consider using a drone to get an aerial shot, so that you can instantly get an idea of which weak spots need attending to.

We suggest looking for any branches overhanging your fence that could allow a criminal to easily climb over and gain access to your propertyYou should also examine surrounding properties that could attract criminals with poorly lit areas and easy hiding spots and tighten up on security near these areas. It's a good idea to have a look at the distance between any surrounding vegetation and fence lining to find further hiding areas and consider organising a garden service to chop down any overgrown spots.

Carefully Consider Your Fencing

When it comes to your fencing, you should ensure that you choose fencing that is not easy to cut, climb or tunnel underneath of. Clear view fencing is a wise idea, since its excellent visibility will help you easily monitor what's going on around you. Another tip would be to illuminate your fence line to make it possible for you to immediately detect someone attempting to gain entry.

Modernise Your Security Facilities

There are plenty of modern technologies designed to make security more efficient and hassle free. Why use keys that can easily be copied when card systems are available? These may be more expensive, but will certainly give your tenants peace of mind, since they have the benefit of side stepping picked locks and of keeping track of who enters and exits the building and at what time.

Another modern technology worth purchasing, is a SNIPR camera system. These cameras can automatically detect number plates and alert you of any suspicious vehicles within your vicinity. Whichever camera system you choose, you should ensure it's one that gives you the ability to control your cameras via a phone app that lets you keep an eye on property when you're not there.
