Industrial and Logistics Properties in Hammarsdale: About the Area
Hammarsdale is situated within the eThekwini Municipality, approximately 40 km from the Durban Port and 35 km from Pietermaritzburg.
It has two components namely: the revitalised older portion and the new developments just up from the N3 interchange.
The older section was the home of many of the large textile companies in the past and has been rejuvenated by property companies who have renovated industrial and logistics properties in Hammarsdale to create reasonably priced Industrial Parks.
Hammarsdale has the following advantages:
- Good supply of reasonably priced property available to let with sizes from 300m² to 20,000m² and prices from R45/m².
- Availability of a large semi-skilled labour force.
- Good supply of electricity, supplied direct from Eskom.
- Availability of water and sewer services.
The new section of Hammarsdale starts with the Keystone Industrial Park - a modern, brand new and secure logistics park, bordering the N3 and measuring 152 ha, of which 1 million square metres has been platformed and with the majority being visible from the N3. Keystone Industrial Park is home to the Mr Price Group, Ackermans and Pep amongst others- all having very large distribution centres located there.
There are also various other new developments proposed for the area and a number of large plots of vacant industrial land with prices from approximately R350/m².
